Mountain Honey

Malai then comes from large wild bees that nest high on tall trees and cliff faces. One hive can yield several litres — that is why mountain honey is widely available and trusted for everyday use.

Compared with kombu, the sweetness is milder and the colour a clean golden amber. Families reach for it with warm water, dosa, or toast — a reliable daily jar from our hill harvests.

அடுக்கு தேன்

Adukku Honey

Also called putru then — bees build multi-layer combs in rock crevices, field bunds, and mound cavities. “அடுக்கு” means layered: some nests stack many comb floors one above another.

Moderately sweet, often darker amber, and common in traditional Tamil honey markets. A solid choice when you want a fuller forest character than mild mountain honey.

கொம்பு தேன்

Kombu Honey

Kombu means branch. Small bees (often Apis florea) hang tiny hives from twigs and thin branches. Yield is low — often under 500 ml per nest — so the honey is scarce, strong-tasting, and prized in Siddha and home remedies.

The variety name is not “comb packing.” You can buy bottled Kombu jars, or a separate fresh comb box from the same harvest when you want honey still held in wax.

அடை தேன்

Adai Honey

Named after தேனடை — the honeycomb sheet or cake. Harvested from dense wild combs where honey sits thick in the cells; when bottled it keeps a full-bodied traditional taste families recognise as அடை தேன்.

It is a variety label for that comb-cake harvest style — not “for homes that finish honey quickly,” and not the same as our optional comb-box packing (which is available on all four honeys). Sold in ½ kg and 1 kg jars only.

How we pack your honey

Every variety — மலை, அடுக்கு, கொம்பு, and அடை — can be enjoyed two ways. Pick bottled jars for daily cooking and remedies, or a sealed fresh comb box when you want honey with the wax still holding the harvest.

Bottled (extracted)

Honey is carefully squeezed from the comb and filled into clean jars — ready for daily use, chai, remedies, and cooking. Choose ¼ kg, ½ kg, or 1 kg on most varieties (Adai ships in ½ kg & 1 kg only). Extracted honey pours easily and stores well in the pantry.

Fresh comb box

Prefer honey still in the comb? We seal fresh comb from the same variety in a box — the hive as harvested, ideal for tasting wax, aroma, and raw sweetness together. Comb packing is available on all four varieties and is separate from the variety name கொம்பு தேன்.
